Somers is a rural town of about 28 square miles in the northern part of the region, running from around 250 feet in the west up over 900 feet in the eastern hills. It sits entirely within the Scantic River watershed and has two distinct centers, both on the river.

The most single-family town we serve — about 93% detached houses. Newer than its rural character suggests: roughly 25% has been built since 2000, on top of a large 1960s and 70s cohort, with under 8% predating 1940.
Getting around
No interstate. Routes 83 and 186 run north–south, Route 190 east–west. Somers is the most remote town we cover from both anchors — roughly 24 miles to Hartford and 22 to UConn Storrs, or about 35 minutes to either in light traffic.
